Frequently Asked Questions

Why permanent makeup?
  • Feel confident and beautiful 24/7.
  • Save time every morning.
  • Ideal for those with contact lenses or cosmetic allergies/sensitivities.
  • Smudge-proof and waterproof—perfect for workouts, swimming, and busy lifestyles.
Does it last forever?
Permanent makeup involves implanting pigment into the skin, similar to traditional tattooing. While it can fade over time, pigment always remains to some degree. Laser removal is available for brows, but not currently for lips or eyeliner in the United States.
Does it hurt?
Many clients experience little to no discomfort. Everyone’s pain tolerance varies, but topical anesthetics are used to minimize discomfort during procedures.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients need two sessions initially (sometimes one, occasionally three) to achieve their desired effect. After that, maintenance sessions every few years help keep your results perfect.
Is there a downtime?
None at all! You can return to work the same day. You may experience slight redness for an hour or two and bolder brows for the first few days. You may experience some swelling for one to three days following a lip procedure, but the majority of swelling subsides within a few hours.
Am I a good candidate?
Most people are! However, for your safety, we perform a medical screening. You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking Accutane, or undergoing active chemotherapy. Some conditions may require a doctor's note.
Is Permanent Makeup safe?

Absolutely. At The Healing Design, your health and safety are my highest priorities. I follow the following strict clinical protocols to ensure a pristine experience:

  • Hospital-Grade Disinfection: I use high-level, EPA-registered disinfectants with tuberculocidal properties to maintain a disinfected environment between every client.
  • Single-Use Only: I use only sterile, single-use, disposable needle cartridges. Every tool that touches your skin is opened in front of you and disposed of immediately after your procedure.
  • Safe, Premium Pigments: Our pigments are vegan, cruelty-free, and rigorously tested for safety and long-term stability in the skin.
  • Cross-Contamination Prevention: I follow rigid protocols to ensure that every surface and tool remains uncontaminated throughout your visit.
  • Patch Testing: For added peace of mind, I offer optional patch tests (available upon request at least 24 hours before your appointment) to mitigate the risk of allergic reactions.

You can relax knowing that your beauty service is happening in a safest environment.

Why Powder Brows?

Why I Choose Powder Brows Over Microblading

The Simple Answer

While Microblading uses a manual tool to create "cuts" in the skin that look like hair strokes, Powder Brows (also known as Ombré Brows) use a specialized machine to deposit thousands of tiny dots of pigment into the skin. This creates a soft, misty, "powdered" look—similar to the effortless look of a brow pencil or shadow.

The "Blade" Myth

Despite the name, Microblading does not use a literal blade. It actually uses a series of tiny needles stacked closely together. However, because this tool is used to manually "slice" the skin, it is much more traumatic to the tissue than many people realize.

The "Science-Backed" Reason I Choose Powder Brows

As an artist with a background in Biology and Pre-Med, I prioritize skin integrity and long-term health. Here is why Powder Brows are the gold standard at The Healing Design:

  • Gentle on the Skin: Microblading involves manual "slicing" which can lead to permanent scarring or blurred strokes. Powder Brows are less invasive and much gentler on the dermis (the deeper layer of your skin).
  • Ideal for Mature Skin: Delicate or mature skin often doesn’t heal well with microblading. Powder Brows heal beautifully on almost all skin types, providing better pigment retention and more predictable results.
  • Avoiding the "Darkening Trap": With Microblading, repeated touch-ups often cause strokes to overlap and "blur" together, making the brows look heavy, dark, and "caked-on" over time. Powder Brows are applied in soft, breathable layers that stay light and natural.
  • Graceful Aging: Microblading strokes tend to expand and migrate over 1–2 years. Powder Brows age much more gracefully, fading softly and evenly so we can easily refresh your look as your style changes.
  • Customizable Definition: We specialize in "Natural Definition." Whether you want an ultra-soft look or something more defined, we ensure you never walk away with harsh, "stamped-on" brows.

2. The First 5–14 Days (The "Dry Phase")

To protect the delicate pigment, you must avoid the following until the area is fully closed:

3. Procedure-Specific Tips

4. Protecting Your Investment (Long-Term)

If you experience unexpected itching or signs of infection (like increasing pain or fever), contact me and your physician immediately. Your health is always the priority.
